The UMDNJ Office of Emergency Management and Occupational Health and Safety (EMOHS) is a unit with the University's Central Administration, responsible for enterprise-wide development and implementation of emergency preparedness initiatives, coordination of resources during disasters and other incidents, and the overall health and safety of the University community.
An emergency is a serious situation or occurrence that happens or has the potential to happen unexpectedly and demands immediate action. Our mission is to promote the University's comprehensive disaster awareness, prevention, mitigation, planning, response, and recovery programs. We help protect the lives and property of students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors of UMDNJ, and facilitate the restoration of vital functions of the University to full working capacity immediately following an event.
Mission: EMOHS supports UMDNJ’s mission by protecting, encouraging, and enabling a safe, healthful, and resilient environment for the University and its community by promoting compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and practices, through leadership, education, and technical services in the areas of environmental and occupational health, safety, and emergency management.
Vision: Build a safe, healthful, and resilient community through collaborative partnerships.
