Student Mental Health Services

Then Center for Student Mental Health Services is a student resource operated under the auspices of the Department of Psychiatry to perform the following functions:

  1. Provide mental health and substance abuse outpatient treatment and counseling for students of:
  2. Provide training for and sponsorship of peer support group programs and other programs of a preventive ans supportive nature.
  3. Establish and maintain research activities dealing with student mental health.
  4. Provide training and supervision for psychiatric residents and psychology interns interested in the student mental health field.

The Center for Student Mental Health Services provides psychiatric help for all students of the UMDNJ - Newark Campus. The service is not available to students' dependents. However, dependents may be seen in consultation.

Treatment is primarily short-term restorative intervention dealing with problems that arise during the student's stay in school.
