Recent Publications

Adam Perlman, MD, MPH co-authored a paper entitled “Effects of External Qigong Therapy on Osteoarthritis of the Knee: A Randomized Controlled Trial” published in Clinical Rheumatology, in June 2008. The results of this study also featured on the front page of the Daily Record on September 14, 2008.

Adam Perlman, MD, MPH was a Keynote Speaker the annual Academic Retreat of the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, which focused on “Bringing Caregivers Closer?” His address, titled “Bringing Caregivers Closer: Does This Compute?” was published in the March/April edition of Findings 17(1): 43-47.

Dr. Adam Perlman's recent promotion to the position of Vice Chair of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, was featured in the March/April 2008 edition of Explore 4(2): 92-94.

Susan Gould Fogerite, PhD, ICAM's Director of Research, authored a chapter with Gary Goldberg, PhD, titled “Overview of Mind Body Therapies” in Complementary Therapies for Physical Therapy: A clinical decision making approach, edited by Judith Deutch, PT, PhD and Ellen Anderson, PT, MA.  Click here for further details from the publisher.

ICAM serves as a focal point for complementary & alternative medicine (CAM) within UMDNJ and beyond. Its mission is threefold:

EDUCATION: To be an educational resource on CAM, and to develop evidenced-based integrative curricula and educational programs.

RESEARCH: To facilitate, conduct and obtain support for high quality basic and clinical research in CAM.

CLINICAL: To support the integration of evidence-based CAM therapies and medicine into clinical settings.
