EMTALA
EMTALA stands for the
Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, commonly know as the patient 'anti-dumping'
law. EMTALA was designed to prevent hospitals from refusing to treat emergency
patients or transferring them to charity or public hospitals due to Medicaid
or other economic reasons.
