Free Webinar: Protecting Workers and Volunteers From Mold During Hurricane Clean-up

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Homeowners, volunteers and contractors participating in the clean-up following Hurricane Sandy are all likely to encounter mold, a potential health hazard, clinging to waterlogged sheetrock, furniture and debris. Contact with mold can cause health concerns ranging from relatively mild allergic reactions to more serious respiratory concerns that could include asthma attacks, fevers and lung infections.

“Hurricane Sandy: Protecting Workers and Volunteers from Mold,” a free webinar hosted by the Office of Public Health Practices at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-School of Public Health, will be available Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. Led by Dr. Jack Caravanos, a professor at the City University of New York School of Public Health at Hunter College, the webinar will present information on effective protection that is needed when working in a moldy environment. Webinar viewers will be able to participate in a
question and answer session following the presentation.
