November 5 Update on UMDNJ Re-openings and Related Travel Information

Those academic and clinical programs in Newark, New Brunswick and Piscataway that were suspended last week resumed today. We are pleased to report that the Scotch Plains campus will reopen tomorrow, Nov. 6.
Though some repairs are needed and are already underway, they are mostly minor; our facilities generally survived the storm in good shape. Certain functions normally managed at Liberty Plaza in New Brunswick and 1 World’s Fair Drive in Somerset continue to be managed from temporary locations as a precaution. Everyone should continue to report to their normal work locations unless otherwise notified. Anyone with questions should contact their supervisor or department head.
If you are experiencing a critical IST issue related to clinical, research, or academic support, please dial 3-3200 or 732-743-3200. If you require a new service request, you should email your request to isthelp@umdnj.edu. All emailed requests will be triaged and handled once all critical issues are resolved.

Following is recent information about NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway service stations:
NJTP northbound at Grover Cleveland Service Area (Woodbridge Twp.) - Closed until further notice.
GSP at Cheesequake Service Area Open - No fuel available.
GSP Exit 63A (Route 72) closed.
GSP Brookdale southbound Service Area, approx. 1 1/2 hours wait time
GSP Brookdale northbound Service Area, approx. 1/2 hour wait time
Everyone is encouraged to carpool while we continue to experience delays in purchasing gas. Please note the following resources for carpooling and transportation information:

Everyone also is reminded to exercise extreme caution while on the roads. Some intersections remain without traffic lights and are particularly dangerous.
