New Mobile Medical Clinic Dedicated to Serve the Youth of Newark

Children in Newark have a new way to receive health care � by having the care come to them. On October 22, a new mobile medical clinic was dedicated for use by the New Jersey Children's Health Project, a collaboration between the Children's Health Fund and the UMDNJ-School of Nursing. The mobile clinic, which is sponsored by a $500,000 grant from the Webkinz Foundation and contains two exam rooms plus a dental chair, will offer physical examinations, vision and hearing testing and immunizations, along with screenings for conditions including lead poisoning, asthma, diabetes, hypertension and cancer. The Children's Health Fund is the nation's leading pediatric provider of mobile-based health care for homeless and low-income children and their families.

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) is the nation's largest free-standing public health sciences university with more than 6,000 students attending the state's three medical schools, its only dental school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a school of health related professions, a school of nursing and its only school of public health on five campuses.
