Group Description
The Essex County CEED Coalition is a new cooperative venture from the East Orange General Hospital/St. Michael's Medical Center CEED Project and the U.M.D.N.J. "SAVE Women and Men" CEED Project . It was formed in order to encourage local partnerships to promote cancer screening services, and to provide a meeting place for those involved in this endeavor.

Goals
• To share information about cancer screening initiatives and services in our area which are available to low-income or uninsured people.
• Disseminate information about the New Jersey CEED Program, how to access services in Essex County, and follow-up treatment procedures in our respective projects.
• Explain the NJ CEED-sponsored cancer needs assessment, how it will work, what its objectives are, and how it will benefit our community.
• Discuss barriers to access to cancer screening and care in our communities, and propose solutions.
• Provide a forum for discussion of recent scientific/medical findings in the areas of breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancer detection, and work towards a consensus regarding controversial issues.
