CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION
AND
INDUSTRY RELATIONS
Working closely with the experts at the New Jersey Medical School, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the School of Osteopathic Medicine as well as the other schools, units, and centers of UMDNJ, the CME/Industry Relations Division plans, produces, and implements a broad array of educational programming for regional, statewide, national and international audiences. With a long track record of productive relationships with partners and grantors, our team is able to meet the letter and spirit of all relevant codes and regulations while maintaining a business approach to time- and expense-management.

AIDS Education
CCOE’s Division of AIDS Education,
founded in 1989, was among the original
Ryan White-funded AIDS Education and
Training Centers (AETC) in the country.
It serves as the Northern New Jersey
Local Performance Site of the NY/NJ AIDS
Education and Training Center and is
funded in part through the Columbia University
Mailman School of Public Health, which
holds the regional AETC grant.
CCOE-AIDS is headquartered on UMDNJ’s
Newark campus and collaborates with the
New Jersey Medical School on its educational
initiatives. These initiatives are designed
to increase the number of health care
providers who are effectively educated
and motivated to counsel, diagnose, treat,
and medically manage individuals with
HIV infection as well as to help prevent
risk behaviors that lead to HIV transmission.
CCOE-AIDS has clinical faculty throughout
New Jersey, all of which are experts
in the provision of medical care to persons
living with HIV. These experts provide
clinical training opportunities for less
experienced providers to receive one-on-one
training, which includes direct patient
care observation and clinical consultation,
as well as small group skills-building
sessions. The Division also offers HIV
Medical Update programs semi-annually
in New Jersey, as well as important topic
lectures and other skills-building activities
that assist providers in the care and
treatment of persons living with HIV/AIDS.
The Division also provides technical
assistance to organizations looking to
build capacity in the care and treatment
of HIV/AIDS.
