Cerebrovascular Disease is a leading cause of death and disability all over the world. Moreover, the Newark region has one of the highest incidences of stroke in the country.  Here at the New Jersey Medical School Stroke Center, our mission is to offer the best possible medical care to stroke patients. Partnering with specialists from many different fields in a cooperative environment, our center represents a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.  With round the clock access the most sophisticated diagnostic modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) imaging, and angiography utilized by a 24-Hour on call Stroke, Neurological Critical Care, and Neuro-interventional specialists, the University Hospital Stroke Center can offer referring physicians as well as patients and their families comprehensive diagnosis and treatment options.  Our endovascular team employs the latest technology in minimally invasive surgery arena to combat cerebrovascular disease leading to stroke.  The cutting edge stroke research at the New Jersey Medical School guarantees successful course of treatment for our patients.  The center also conducts epidemiological studies to better understand the primary and secondary risk factors of stroke within individual communities that can increase the efficacy of educational community outreach programs on stroke.
