BCC Organization
The UMDNJ Board of Concerned Citizens carries out its mandate through the formal and informal activities of its Standing Committees. These include budget management, human resources, communication, facilities and services, outreach, and education and training. Also charged are community advisory committees, which concern themselves directly with health problems facing residents of the greater Newark community area. The Board also nominates representatives for service on school and hospital search committees, bylaws committees, planning committees, and research committees.
The UMDNJ Board of Concerned Citizens meets at monthly intervals every fourth Tuesday. Recommendations for Board Members are transmitted to the Chair of the Board of Trustees and the President of the University for approval.
The Board maintains offices on the University's Newark campus in the Medical Sciences Building, 185 South Orange Avenue, Room B502. The office can be reached during regular working hours at (973) 972-5529 or by email at mathisme@umdnj.edu.
