Clinical Services

The Autism Center provides patients and their families with access to a team of professionals, making it easier for parents or caregivers to coordinate care between specialists.  This interdisciplinary team emphasizes early detection  and the individualized implementation of effective medical interventions.  The specialists include:

  • Developmental Pediatrician
  • Pediatric Neurologist
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
  • Clinicial Geneticist
  • Immunologist / Allergist
  • Gastroenterologist
  • Psychologist
  • Social worker
  • Dentist
  • Family support and information specialist

The team is dedicated to providing comprehensive and coordinated diagnosis, treatment and outreach services.  A team approach is effective in caring for individuals with ASD due to the high incidence of multiple medical problems, for example, many ASD patients experience recurrent infection and chronic gastrointestinal symptoms.

There are many existing treatment options for individuals with autism, making choices overwhelming for parents.  The Autism Center fulfills the need for a comprehensive medical program for individuals with autism by providing objective guidance and care.

The Autism Center provides comprehensive evaluations of neuro-behavioral, psychological and learning strategies of children, adolescents and adults.  This includes a full range of cognitive, educational, neuro-developmental, neuropsychological, neuro-motor and sensory testing, as well as assessments of self-help and adaptive capacity.  New Jersey licensed psychologists direct The Autism Center consultation service.  To facilitate the accurate diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders, members of the consultation team are certified in the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI).
