Contracts/Agreements with Outside Entities
Faculty members who wish to enter into a contract or agreement with an outside agency or entity to provide professional services must adhere to the procedures in the University policies on Contract Management and Legal Commitment Authority or in the policy on Outside Employment. Professional liability coverage under the University is in effect only for professional services carried out under the direction and control of the University for activities that are part of the faculty member's duties, including work performed under contract between the University and an outside entity. Work performed as "outside employment" under agreements or contracts between the faculty member as an individual and an outside entity is specifically excluded from eligibility for coverage under the terms of the University's Professional and General Liability Program of Self-Insurance and under the University's Workers Compensation Program. (See University Policy 00-01-50-86:03 Insurance: General Liability) The University does not participate in the negotiations of any outside employment contracts or agreements.
