Insurance
All full-time faculty members are eligible to participate in
the New Jersey State Health Benefits Program (SHBP). (For purposes
of these benefits, full-time is considered to include members
of the faculty whose University employment equals 50% or more
of a full-time equivalent.) Coverage for all health insurance
plans is effective following two months of continuous employment.
Coverage is not automatic. New faculty members are required to
complete the necessary enrollment in the health plans. New faculty
members should maintain their personal coverage until group coverage
can be confirmed. There is an annual open enrollment period for
each health insurance plan for eligible faculty who did not initially
elect to enroll themselves and/or their dependents. Any type of
coverage changes due to marriage, etc., must be made within 60
days of the event.
