UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine Sponsors Annual 9/11 Blood Drive

STRATFORD — Each September, the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine remembers the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington by holding a Red Cross Blood Drive as a tribute to those who lost their lives on that day and to help boost the area’s critically low blood supplies. This year’s blood drive will be on Monday, September 10, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the medical school's Academic Center, on East Laurel Road, in Stratford.
“Giving blood is a selfless way to remember the tragedy of that day,” said Dr. Thomas A. Cavalieri, dean of the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine. “It’s a truly life affirming activity that honors those who lost their lives that day and who have given their lives since then in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.”

UMDNJ is the nation's largest free-standing public health sciences university with more than 5,500 students attending the state's three medical schools, its only dental school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a school of health related professions, a school of nursing and its only school of public health, on five campuses.
