Actor and Former N.Y. Giants Football Player To Speak During UMDNJ
Male Empowerment Conference
Actor Derek Luke, star of "Antwone Fisher" and "Biker Boyz," returns to New Jersey to deliver a keynote address during a Male
Empowerment Conference, which is being sponsored by the University
of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Luke, who was
raised in Jersey City, will attend the conference that is being
held on Saturday, June 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Deliverance
Evangelistic Temple, 621 Clinton Avenue, Newark.
Former New York Giants All Pro Linebacker Harry Carson will provide
opening remarks during the "Empowering Men, Strengthening Families,
and Creating Healthier Communities" conference which is being
coordinated by Derek Luke's uncle Charles Dixon, director of the
Young Father's Program at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
Conflict resolution, anger and stress management, spirituality,
time management, and health issues that concern men will be discussed
during workshops.
United Way of Essex and West Hudson Counties and Public Service
Electric and Gas (PSEG) collaborated with UMDNJ to present this
