At UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School
Noted Physician and Author to Deliver Keynote Address at Convocation
Dr. John Stone, the co-author of the book the Class of 2004
received during White Coat ceremonies as first-year students,
will deliver the keynote address to the Class of 2004 during the
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-New
Jersey Medical School convocation ceremony on Monday, May 24,
at 11:00 a.m., at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC)
in Newark.
Dr. Stone, a former associate dean and director of admissions
at Emory University School of Medicine, is co-author of "On Doctoring,"
a book of short stories, poems and essays that emphasize the human
dimensions of medicine. Each year since 1989, the Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation has given copies of this book to every student
entering medical school in the United States.
The convocation ceremony celebrates the outstanding achievements
in academics, clinical studies and community service among this
year's graduating physicians and honors distinguished faculty
at the school.
The commencement ceremony for the Class of 2004, the largest
in the University's history, will take place on Tuesday, May 25,
at 10:30 a.m. at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton.
