System at UMDNJ
Health Educator To Deliver Free Poison Safety Presentations at
Babies "R" Us Stores
Discover what can happen when a child confuses prescription medications
with candy or thinks liquid household cleaning products are fruit
juices. A health professional from the New Jersey Poison Information
and Education System (NJPIES) at the University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) will present poison prevention
seminars at four Babies "R" Us stores the first week in September.
The "Adult Poison Prevention" seminars are being offered in recognition
of national "Grandparents are Special Week," September 1 to 6.
Using a display of edible items and household products, Kathy
Ankrah, health educator at the
New Jersey Poison Information and Education System at UMDNJ,
will present examples of how adults can decrease the risk of children
and pets being accidentally poisoned. The seminars are part of
the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System's effort
to inform the public about ways to prevent children from ingesting
hazardous substances.
