University Behavioral HealthCare Supports
May 18 Walk for the Mentally Ill
Several hundred people from the University of Medicine and Dentistry
of New Jersey's University Behavioral HealthCare (UBHC) will be
participating in the inaugural New Jersey walk sponsored by the
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill on May 18, beginning at
1 p.m. in Mount Holly.
UBHC, a statewide network, is one of the largest providers of
mental health services in the country. Its mission is to care
for the most seriously affected by this disease, regardless of
their ability to pay.
Through government funding and private grants, UBHC has established
a wide array of mental health services for the seriously mentally
ill adults and at risk children and families across New Jersey.
With centers in some of the neediest communities, UBHC provides
crisis intervention, case management and outreach services
UBHC is on the forefront of teaching the latest and most innovative
treatment paradigms through its national training institute "Partners
for Excellence in Psychiatry". The Institute trains health care
professionals from mental health organizations nationwide in the
most cutting-edge
approaches to treating the most severe and persistently mentally
ill, with the goal of reintegrating these individuals back into
their communities
